NEWS - Because Batman is Just for Kids...

This story caught my eye from the news feed I've got at the bottom of the page.
Uncaped Crusader in Comic Causes Concern
Now, at first glance, I thought the kerfuffle was simply over the library not screening material.
But:
"The two aren't mad at the library, but they did touch base to let officials know what they'd brought home from the library's fundraising sale."...

“They trap you with the Batman name, and I don't know what their underlying mission is,” Yvette Spivock said. “I was outraged.”
Bill Spivock said: “We're not religious people or anything – we're rather liberal – but this goes beyond all acceptability.”

I appreciate and respect librarians, but the fact that whoever sold these people this comic failed to caution them that this Bat-Title was geared towards older teens is inexcusable.

This nonsense wouldn't have happened in a reputable comic shop.

DC has nothing to apologize for, the blame lies with the parents, who admit to just looking at the covers. Plus what kind of name is Spivock? The name reeks of bad parenting.

As for the web site I gleamed this story off of.

"Yvette picked up some comic books for her kids at a book sale at the South County Regional Library and was shocked to find that several were offending inside and one issue, Batman Confidential:Insanity Claws! contained borderline pornographic content. DIEDRA LAIRD"

One last note:
The Spivocks say they'll likely keep their peculiar Batman comic book.
“Who knows,” said Bill Spivock, “in the end they might actually be worth something.”

Well, proliferation of this story just might boost Batman Confidential's shipping numbers.
And lord knows I'm gonna try to find this issue.
